Developing a leisure travel strategy

Objective – Development of a new leisure travel strategy for a large corporate travel focussed business in Saudi Arabia.

My role – I was approached by Boston Consulting Group to become an SME for SEERA Group (formerly Al Tayyar Group) in the development of a new leisure travel strategy. This work was varied and drew from my experience within the UK travel sector. I was responsible for multiple initiatives during this time and considered an extension of the BCG team.

Solution – In addition to providing advice and guidance from my UK experience, it was critical I was sensitive to cultural differences both in work style and customer behaviour; this meant at times progress was slow, as the organisation transformed from a people and process perspective but supporting this change was very rewarding in the end.

Outcome – The strategy was delivered within a period of circa 3 months, but the implementation of this strategy is ongoing – one of the most significant deliverables was bringing Almosafer (an existing customer travel website) onto the high street and developing a customer centric, omni-channel offering that is streets ahead of their competition.
