Marella Discovery – new facilities

Objective – To add new facilities to Marella Discovery to maximise use of space, provide additional revenue generation and help deliver a more contemporary proposition to appeal to the full target market.

My role – To critically review all space, alongside budget and operational constraints to maximise the delivery of the proposition, prioritising budget as appropriate to ensure effective delivery.

Solution –

  • Underutilised spaces, such as the sun deck behind the spa were used to create a new adult only space – The Veranda.
  • The former future cruise area was allocated as a Suite Concierge and used to hold meet and greet sessions for suite guests.
  • The archaic arcade games were stripped out and replaced with Gamerzone – a modern, Xbox zone with gaming chairs and beanbags.
  • The former conference centre was divided to use as revenue generating photo studios and two on-trend Breakout & Escape rooms (where guests are locked in the room with an hour to solve clues to breakout).

Outcome – More signature spaces, better space utilisation, more facilities, more revenue generation opportunities and a better opportunity to deliver the proposition.
